Occupation of Kingsnorth Power Plant
Around 5 am on October 2007, a group of 50 Greenpeace activists illegally broke into Kingsnorth power plant in Kent, England. The group split up into teams, each of whom targeted a different area. Their various "monkeywrenching" activities included immobilizing the conveyor belt and then chaining themselves to the machinery, climbing the 200 meter smokestack and then painting the word "Gordon" (after the Prime Minister of the time) on the chimney, and using an inflatable to occupy the jetty. After causing an estimated £30,000 in damage, the activists were caught and arrested.
