The #JustBanIt campaign aims to ban the use of toxic oil field wastewater for crop irrigation in California. Toxic wastewater could include up to 173 different chemicals and this water ends up being used to irrigate many crops that are shipped across the country. This wastewater is harmful to the food, farmers, and workers who interact with the crops.
Goals
Food & Water Watch aims to ban the use of the toxic wastewater. The goals of the action are to bring to light the facts of the practice and stop companies from labeling their produce as "organic" when it uses the toxic waste. The organization aims to collect signatures in an effort to call action to stop the use and pressure legislatures to ban the practice.
